Buzzards swoop down for a gold medal

The Tri-Town Buzzards have been crowned provincial midget broomball champions. The Buzzards are comprised of players from Balgonie, Odessa and Maymont. None of these communities had enough midget aged players to ice their own team.

The Buzzards are comprised of players from Balgonie, Odessa and Maymont. None of these communities had enough midget aged players to ice their own team.

There were only three boys' teams entered in the tournament held in Estevan Feb. 19-20 - Estevan, Bruno and Tri-Town. Saturday morning Tri-Town beat Estevan 7-0 and in the afternoon Tri-Town beat Bruno 4-2. Sunday afternoon Tri-Town took on Bruno in the gold medal round to beat them 8-0.

During the award ceremonies four players from the Tri-Town Buzzards earned some bragging rights.

Named to the first all star team were defenceman Damon Tomaschefski and forwards Derek Clayton and Alex Clement. On the second all star team were defenceman Taylor Reiley and forward Parker Cochrane.

Clement was also named the tournament's top scorer and top forward.
