Broncos play tense game against the Mustangs

It was an intense game between the Humboldt Broncos and the Melfort Mustangs on November 26 at the Elgar Peterson Arena. The Broncos got an early lead with Spencer Braaten getting the first goal of the night just 59 seconds in.

It was an intense game between the Humboldt Broncos and the Melfort Mustangs on November 26 at the Elgar Peterson Arena.
The Broncos got an early lead with Spencer Braaten getting the first goal of the night just 59 seconds in. He was assisted by Troy Gasper and Justin Buzzeo.
The Mustangs quickly caught up to the Broncos, with their first goal at 2:58 by Brody Haygarth, assisted by Adam Wihak and Owen Roschuk.
Matt Glowa got the Broncos their second goal of the night at 8:21 on a power play. He was assisted by Jeremy Boyer and Logan Sproule.
Kyle Threndyle of the Mustangs tied up the first period with a goal at 18:35, assisted by Jesse Mireau and Lee Christensen.
Although no goals were scored in the second period, the Mustangs took the lead in the third with a goal by Sean Aschim at 5:22 on a power play. He was assisted by Haygarth.
The Broncos quickly tied the game at three with a goal at 6:33 by Nathan Hudema, assisted by Boyer and Adam Antkowiak.
The game stayed tied until the last minute of the third period. Boyer scored the winning goal of the game for the Broncos at 19:22. Josh Roach and Sproule assisted.
The atmosphere in the arena was tense all night and a large number of penalties were earned for both teams. Numerous fights also broke out on the ice.
At 6:53 in the first period, a fight broke out between Brett Pisio of the Broncos and Zach Johnson of the Mustangs. The fight resulted in a five minute penalty for both players and a two minute interference penalty for Johnson.


Sixteen seconds later, at 7:09, a second fight started between Buzzeo and Wihak, resulting in a five minute penalty for both.
At 1:47 of the second period, Humboldt's Gasper received a two minute penalty for checking from behind and a game misconduct.
Before the end of the second period, Roschuck of the Mustangs followed Gasper's example. He received a two minute penalty for checking from behind and game misconduct at 14:04.
A two minute penalty was served at 4:37 in the third period by Ward Szucki of the Broncos for slashing.
At the end of the third period, Haygarth of the Mustangs received a two minute penalty for boarding at the 20:00 minute.
The game ended with tempers flaring and a fight between the entire two teams almost resulted. As it was, Szucki received a 20 minute gross misconduct penalty and was suspended for two games for reaching over between the players' boxes with his stick.
The Broncos won the game 3-4 and out-shot the Mustangs 31-28.
The three stars of the game were Boyer of the Broncos, Charles Corsi of the Mustangs and Sproule of the Broncos.
