The snow may not be on the ground yet, but hockey season is in full swing with Battlefords teams once again playing in league action on the weekend.
Midget AA Barons
The Barons had two Centre Four Hockey League games at the Civic Centre on the weekend and were unable to come away with a win in either. Saturday, the Barons lost 7-0 to Midwest and Sunday they fell 2-1 to Lloydminster.
The Barons' record sits at 1-6-0.
This weekend the Barons will host their home tournament, which begins Friday at noon and wraps up with the final Sunday at 3:45 p.m.
Midget Barons 2
The Barons played a league game against the other Battlefords team and they battled to a 4-4 tie.
Friday, the Barons hosted Turtleford and hung on for the 7-5 win. Goal scorers were Dalton Lafreniere with two, Troy Swiftwolfe, Spencer Cave, Kyle Bartusek, Dayton Aubichon and Mason Blackstar all with one.
Ben Liebaert was the winning goalie with 31 saves.
The Barons play in Spiritwood Nov. 26 and their next home action is Nov. 27 against Meadow Lake.
Bantam Barons
The Highway 14 Hockey League Barons hosted Kyle Saturday and suffered a 6-2 loss.
Elijah Wuttunee-Iron and Jackson Tady were the goal scorers for the Barons, as Craig Swiftwolfe had two assists and Masen Carriere and Shane Parenteau each had one.
In net, Taryn Kotchorek was the losing goalie.
The next league game for the Barons is in Wilkie Tuesday.
Battlefords Barons 2
The Barons moved to 2-0 with a 10-6 win over Turtleford on home ice in STEP League action.
Next for the Barons will be a Sunday afternoon game in Goodsoil.
Peewee AA Barons
The Barons were on the road for one game this weekend and beat Warman 6-4. The Barons improved to 5-3-1 and sit in third place.
Next league action for the Barons is Nov. 26 and 27 at home against Humboldt and Warman.
Peewee Sharks
Saturday, the Sharks kept their unbeaten streak intact and did that with a convincing 13-0 win in Viking, Alta.
Misty Bird tallied a hat trick and an assist,Morgan Lamontagne also had a hat trick, Melina Johnston had one goal and four assists, Tayla Poole had a goal and an assist,Caylin Edwards, Kelsea Sperling and Mishele Tady added single markers.
Once again Matheson Colliar was in the net for the win and had a light day of work for the shutout.
The next action for the Sharks is Friday when they host Meadow Lake and Saturday when they host Vermilion in East Central Alberta Female Hockey League action.
