A youth was arrested and charged with two robberies on Poundmaker First Nation.

On June 29, 2021 at approximately 5 p.m., Battleford RCMP responded to a report of two armed robberies at a business on Highway #4 on Poundmaker First Nation.

The police investigation revealed that a male entered the business with a firearm and demanded vehicle keys, but didn’t obtain any. The male then entered a neighbouring business, demanded and took vehicle keys from an occupant, then fled in that vehicle.

The firearm was discharged during these incidents, but no one was injured.

Police determined the stolen vehicle was at a residence on Mistawasis First Nation. Members from Ahtahkakoop Detachment, Big River Detachment, Blaine Lake Detachment, the Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team, Police Dog Services, the North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section and the Emergency Response Team assisted in containing the residence and arresting a male youth in connection to this investigation.

The youth, who cannot be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with several offences including two counts discharge firearm with intent and two counts robbery.

He will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on June 5.
