It was an exciting morning at Saskatchewan Hospital as the proprietors of Rustic Nine Golf Course delivered the “world’s largest puzzle.”

This is the second time that Victor and Elaine Liebaert have delivered the “World’s Largest” puzzle to the hospital, with the latest version featuring the cities of the world. They have submitted the following information about the puzzle to the News-Optimist:

"Around the World" is the world's largest puzzle in one single image. It is a tour of the world's leading places and landmarks in 42,000 pieces. The puzzle including the frame measures 6 feet high by 25 1/2 feet long. It was manufactured in Spain by the EDUCA Company. The author of the artwork is Adrian Chesterman, an English illustrator.

Victor and Elaine Liebaert began building the puzzle on November 14, 2018. They worked off and on thru two winters until the project was completed on February 27, 2020. It took them countless hours, but they both agree it was very enjoyable to work on.

The Liebaerts had previously donated a 33,600 piece puzzle titled "Wild Life" to the new Sask Hospital in October of 2018.

Once the puzzle was completed, Victor and Elaine built a frame and glued the puzzle onto it. Nicole Hanna from All Out Graphics donated her time to laminate the puzzle at the Liebaert's farm. Elaine's sister, Joanne Moss from Saskatoon made the title for the puzzle and attached it to the frame.

Friends and family of the couple helped to load the giant puzzle into Chad Steacy's bread trailer, to make the journey to its new home at the Saskatchewan Hospital.

Linda Shynkaruk, the director of the Saskatchewan Hospital, took delivery of the puzzle from Victor and Elaine on September 30th. It will be on display in the main indoor courtyard for everyone to see.
