NORTH BATTLEFORD - The latest wastewater data for North Battleford indicates that while virus loads are going up, the amount of Omicron variant is going down.
According to the latest data compiled by University of Saskatchewan and Global Water Futures researchers for the reporting period up to Feb. 11, the COVID-19 viral RNA load in North Battleford wastewater is 194,794 per 100 millilitres, up 39.9 per cent.
But the amount of Omicron variant is listed at 234,990 per 100 millilitres, which is down 42.4 per cent from the previous reporting period.
Those numbers compare to Prince Albert whose wastewater virus load declined 63.9 per cent while the amount of Omicron variant is down 71.8 per cent for the reporting up to Feb.14.
Saskatoon, however, is reporting increases in the virus load at 98.1 per cent and in the Omicron variant which is up 118.9 per cent for the reporting period to Feb. 16.
The wastewater data is considered predictive of trends of new positive COVID-19 cases in the following seven to 10 days.
