NORTH BATTLEFORD – A Unity woman charged in connection with a violent home invasion has pleaded guilty to two lesser charges.
Teneille Heitt, 31, was originally charged with unlawful confinement, break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. She was arrested in January 2020 and Unity RCMP say the victim was known to Heitt.
Heitt pleaded guilty in North Battleford Provincial Court in October to the lesser charges of theft under $5,000 and uttering threats. She was given a conditional sentence and nine months probation on the theft charges and another conditional sentence and nine months probation on the uttering threats charges.
A conditional sentence means that if Heitt successfully completes her probation, abides by all of the terms of her probation order, and isn’t found guilty on any more charges, then she won’t have a criminal record. If, however, she doesn’t successfully complete her probation then the Crown can substitute the conditional discharge for a conviction and she would have a criminal record.
