Two men arrested after allegedly throwing a loaded firearm out the window of their car while police were attempting to stop them, appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
John Robert Arnold, 27, and Brendan Keith Bouvier, 30, both of Meadow Lake were arrested Jan. 23, 2021.
According to RCMP, they received a complaint around 5:30 a.m. about multiple gunshots fired at a residence on the 600 block of 3rdÌýStreet West in Meadow Lake. No injuries were reported. Officers on patrol located an abandoned Jeep on the east side of Meadow Lake with a window smashed out. A firearm was located inside and seized.
While responding to that incident, other RCMP officers stopped a car in the area. During the stop, RCMP observed a loaded firearm being thrown out of the vehicle, which police located in a nearby snow bank.
Police charged Arnold and Bouvier with numerous weapons-related offences. They were both charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of firearm with tampered serial number, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in motor vehicle, careless use of firearm, flight from police, two counts of possession of firearm while prohibited, and failing to comply with undertaking. Arnold was additionally charged with driving while prohibited.
Both Arnold and Bouvier appeared in court Jan. 25 and now have show cause hearings scheduled for Feb. 8 in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
