TISDALE 鈥� The Tisdale and District Museum is seeking stories and materials from the COVID-19 pandemic and the change of lives that came with it for a future exhibit.
鈥淓verybody鈥檚 got a story. You sit at a table and you just bring up COVID, everybody鈥檚 got a story, everybody is talking about it, everybody is willing to talk about it,鈥� said Dawn Marleau, museum chair.
鈥淧eople have learned stuff about themselves that they didn鈥檛 know. People that have found their inner artist, whether it鈥檚 painting, photography, music 鈥� just out of boredom.鈥�
Marleau said the museum鈥檚 goal is to use these stories and pandemic creations to create a display that captures the feelings or experiences of people who lived the year.
鈥淲e鈥檙e looking for written material, [but] we鈥檙e also looking for paintings. If someone has expressed their feelings through art, whether it be a print or an actual picture. We鈥檙e looking for photography that has captured the moment, the empty streets, the empty parks, that sort of thing.鈥�
She expects this will be of interest to later generations, pointing out in the uptake of people researching the 1918 influenza pandemic during the start of the current pandemic.
鈥淚 think people interested in history will be interested in this,鈥� Marleau said.
鈥淢y hope is that maybe it will be put away for a little bit and brought out. Certainly some will stay on display, but not the whole show.鈥�
