Three vehicle fires were extinguished by North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services crews Saturday
The most serious occurred in the RM of North Battleford Saturday just before 5 p.m. Crews responded to the call nine kilometers east of Highworth Road. A half ton truck was completely destroyed in the blaze, as was about 20 acres of crop.
A car fire earlier that morning at 1801 Trudeau St. had an unusual origin. According to NBFES, clothing packed in garbage bags overnight in the car's trunk started to smolder from an overheated light bulb in the trunk. The fire, described as minor, spread to the rear of the vehicle's interior.
A half-ton truck caught fire on Highway 16 about five kilometers east of the city, across from Viterra, at about 6:45 p.m. That vehicle was also destroyed in the blaze.
