July 9 marked the sixth anniversary of the disappearance of 13-year-old Courtney Struble from Estevan.
The RCMP Historical Case section has recently become involved in this investigation.
Courtney Jenelle Struble was a typical teenage girl, who had just graduated from Grade 8, when she disappeared late on the night of July 9, 2004. Earlier that night, Courtney had been hanging out and watching a movie with friends. After the movie ended, Courtney left, walking home and was never seen or heard from again.
In late 2009, the RCMP Historical Case Unit was asked by Estevan Police Service to conduct an independent review of the file. Investigators have met with Courtney's immediate family and expect to be speaking with many other people in the community in the months ahead.
Courtney had dreams and aspirations for her future at the young age of 13. From writings collected from her school work, Courtney described her future: "When I grow up I want to live in a apartment or a little house. I would like to drive a convertible or a Viper if they have them around still when I am older."
Courtney was a girl who one day hoped to become a hairdresser or a teacher.
Despite years of investigation, interviews, media coverage, and extensive searches by the Estevan Police Service and Missing Children Society of Canada, the whereabouts of Courtney Struble is still unknown.
