LLOYDMINSTER – A man charged in connection to an armed robbery at a Lloydminster hotel is back in custody.
Thirty-year-old Jade Alexander Whitstone was arrested for breaching release conditions and had an appearance in Lloydminster court Monday. The matter was adjourned to Thursday.
In separate incidents, Whitstone faces 34 charges including numerous weapons-related offences, forcible confinement, theft, robbery, flight from police, obstruction/resisting police, driving while prohibited, dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime, and several breaches.
In May 2021, Lloydminster RCMP released Whitstone’s photo and asked for help locating him. They warned the public not to approach him. He was apprehended in September 2021 and granted bail.
The RCMP charged Whitstone, Rocky Wuttunee, and Kacey Dillon with armed robbery, forcible confinement, and theft of a vehicle after a Lloydminster hotel was robbed at gunpoint around 1:19 p.m. on March 29, 2021.
Police had also released Dillon’s photo asking the public’s help locating her.
A preliminary hearing for the three co-accused didn’t proceed in February as scheduled after two key civilian witnesses failed to show up in court. In March, however, the Crown told the court that they would proceed with the charges against Whitstone, Dillon and Wuttunee, and a new hearing was scheduled for September.
The charges against Wuttunee, Whitstone, and Dillon haven’t been proven in court.
