Summer festival, parade and midway coming to the B’fords

After a pandemic lull in local events, the schedule ramps up beginning with a Summer Festival downtown Saturday

Northwest Territorial Days is back in a scaled-down format that includes a parade Monday, Aug. 16 and a midway Aug. 19 to 21.
After a year and a half of few activities in the Battlefords due to COVID-19 restrictions, this coming week promises to make up for lost time.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, the North Battleford downtown business improvement District hosts Summer Festival. Attractions will include antique and vendor markets, food trucks and activities for the kids.

Monday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. the annual Northwest Territorial Days parade returns to the streets of North Battleford.

A scaled-back version of Northwest Territorial Days from Aug. 19 to 21 includes midway rides at the Battlefords Ag Society grounds. The rides will be offered by Wild Rose Shows out of Alberta and admission to the grounds is free.

Battlefords Pride is hosting of activities during Pride Week running Aug. 16 to 22. There is a flag raising at City Hall Monday morning, Aug. 16 and plans for Drag Queen Story Hour at 2 p.m. Aug, 21 at Central Park and a Drive-in Drag Show on Aug. 21 at Frontier Mall at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22 there is a Garden Party Extravaganza outside Chapel Gallery, with main events starting at 2 p.m.

On the evening of Aug. 21, the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum hosts their 2021 induction ceremony in Battleford at Alex Dillabough Centre. Baseball players and teams from throughout the province will be honoured. For tickets and further information call 1-306-446-1983.
