An Oct. 4 fire is being treated as suspicious by fire officials.
The blaze took place in the 1300 block of 106th Street. North Battleford Fire and Eemergency Services said the call came in around 6:05 p.m.
Fire crews found smoke billowing from the structure. In a media release, Deputy Fire Chief Robin Tomaz said even though it was a deep seated and hot fire, the firefighters were able to contain the damage to the area of origin.
"During the fire, two of our members also suffered the effects of heat stress," said Tomaz.
One of the firefighters was treated on the scene by WPD Ambulance while the other was treated and released in hospital.
The fire was brought under control in about 90 minutes. Four apparatus and two command vehicles were on scene and a total of 17 firefighters were present. Fire personnel remained on scene for a total of three and a half hours. In addition to the fire department and WPD Ambulance, also present were Battlefords RCMP and officers from North Battleford bylaw enforcement.
The fire department says the blaze has been deemed suspicious. An investigation continues by NBFES investigator, Deputy Chief Kevin Steinborn, as well as by the RCMP.
