Blair and Sandra Lamon of JJ Lamon (Petro Can) are supporters of their local community groups and businesses, however a fuel tank and semi are not purchases available locally.

Therefore when they signed a deal with Cropper Motors of Naicam, they were still able to give back to their community. Cropper Motors has a community program through which they donate $1,000 to a charity of the purchaser's choice on fuel tank and truck purchase.

The Lamons chose the Battlefords Humane Society as their charity of choice.

Sandra said their family cat had recently gone missing and was brought into the shelter. When they retrieved their pet they learned from Michelle Spark of the SPCA that the shelter is full this time of year.

People are concerned for any strays they see and will bring them in. As a result the animal shelter is full and is quite busy feeding and caring for animals. The issue becomes compounded by the fact adoption rates are lower in the winter.

The Humane Society operates with some civic funding but the majority of the money is raised through adoptions and donations. The Battlefords Humane Society also does some fundraising to help offset expenses.

They are currently selling angels that can be purchased in memory of a loved pet for $2 and would welcome any donations as well.
