RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in locating an 84-year-old man from Bruno, who has been missing since Sept. 16.

Victor Mateyshin was last seen that day between 1 and 2 p.m. 16 kilometres north of Dana. Dana is approximately 40 kilometres northwest of Humboldt.

An aerial search, involving police and civilian pilots, and extensive ground searches tracing his last known path of travel, have failed to locate Meteyshin. RCMP detachments in Humboldt, Wakaw, North Battleford, Prince Albert, Saskatoon and Warman have all assisted in the investigation, as has Corman Park Police Service.

Sightings of vehicles matching the description are being followed up by investigators as they come in. Volunteer searchers from Dana have also assisted. They recently searched a slough south of Bruno with negative results.

The missing man is Caucasian, 5'9", 180 pounds, has blue eyes, grey hair and glasses and is clean shaven. When last seen, he was driving a 2005 white Ford Crown Victoria four-door car. The body style is the same as a police vehicle. The licence plate is Saskatchewan 432HJQ.

Mateyshin was reported to be in good health with no known illnesses and police say this disappearance is extremely out of character for him. Many members of his family as well as his friends are actively looking for him and these efforts have mobilized the local community in Bruno.

RCMP say the family is devastated regarding the disappearance of their loved one and are appealing to members of the public, through the media, to come forward with any information that may assist in locating him.

Anyone with information about in the whereabouts of Mateyshin, is urged to contact the Colonsay RCMP at 306-255-3700 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477,
