A Halloween tradition returns to North Battleford again this year as the Halloween Guy will be back putting on a display doing his part to raise money this year to fight drinking and driving.

Guy Turcotte, a.k.a. "The Halloween Guy," will be setting up his Halloween display at 1907 Foley Drive, and using the occasion to raise money for the John Paul II Students Against Drinking and Driving chapter. This is the 11th year in a row he is setting up a Halloween display and the eighth year he will be fundraising for local charities

Last year, Turcotte and his family were able to raise $1,651.71 towards the local SADD chapter. They were able to use the funds to send a group of students to Regina to the Canadian Youth Against Impaired Driving Conference from May 13 to 16 of this year.

This year, SADD is hoping to bring in speaker Kevin Brooks, who has spoken in over 700 high school and community-sponsored events about the dangers of drinking and driving over the past seven years.

Brooks has been a keynote speaker at numerous provincial, state and national conferences including PARTY - Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth, the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), and the CYAID (Canadian Youth Against Impaired Driving.) His web site is www.kevinbrooks.ca.

Turcotte urges people to contribute any donation amount, with tax receipts to be provided by SADD for amounts of $10 and up. All cheques should be made payable to SADD. One hundred per cent of the money raised will stay in the Battlefords.

Local residents can also look forward to seeing Turcotte's Halloween display on October 31 - one that is bound to again frighten the wits out of the kids.

"Our theme is just 'scare the hell out of kids,'" said Turcotte when interviewed about his display last year. "I'm for the guts and the gore." Even though the kids might get scared, they "come back every year, which is great." Last year's display was the first at their Foley Drive location.
