Saskatoon fire crews battle apartment fire

All occupants of the apartment complex were safely evacuated.

SASKATOON - The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to an apartment fire in Confederation Place on Tuesday, July 9. Dispatch received the report at 9:55 a.m.

The first arriving firefighters saw smoke coming from a lower-level apartment and quickly started hose lines after the incident commander assigned tactical duties.

They entered the apartment and completely extinguished the fire. Fire crews later set up fans to clear the smoke inside the building.

All occupants of the apartment complex were safely evacuated, which was confirmed during a thorough search of the building. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The scene was turned over to a fire investigator, who will examine and identify the fire's cause, origin and damage estimate. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
