FLIN FLON, Man. — Update Jan. 2: Xander Tardiff has been safely taken into custody. The Manitoba RCMP thanks the public and media for their assistance.
Update 6:33 p.m.: Xander Tardiff was not located in the Aspen Grove area of Flin Flon. The Manitoba RCMP thanks residents for their understanding and cooperation during the search.
Efforts are continuing to locate him.
He is still considered to be armed and dangerous. If seen, do not approach and call 911 immediately.
Update 1 p.m.: The Manitoba RCMP has a number of officers in the area of Aspen Grove in Flin Flon as part of the ongoing search for Xander Tardiff.
The public is asked to stay away from the area and follow all police direction.
Expect a heavy police presence as officers work to safely resolve the situation.

Background 8:19 a.m.: Manitoba RCMP are searching for Xander Tardiff, an 18-year-old male from Flin Flon in connection to a shooting that occurred in Creighton, Sask, and a homicide that occurred in Flin Flon, Man., in the early morning of Jan. 1.
Xander Tardiff is approximately 6’, 180 lb, with black hair and brown eyes.
It is believed he may be in Flin Flon, Creighton, Sask, or Denare Beach, Sask.
He is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, call 911 immediately and do not approach.
