RCMP investigate death of pedestrian hit by vehicle on the Big River First Nation

On Sunday, Dec, 6, shortly after 12:30 a.m., Big River RCMP responded to the report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on the Big River First Nation. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located an unconscious 37-year-old man on the roadway.

On Sunday, Dec, 6, shortly after 12:30 a.m., Big River RCMP responded to the report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on the Big River First Nation.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located an unconscious 37-year-old man on the roadway. Local Band security were on scene assisting with life-saving efforts on the man until EMS arrived. Tragically, the man was declared deceased on scene by EMS. His next of kin have been notified of his death.

The 56-year-old male driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

The roadway was closed for some time and re-opened after an RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service examined the scene.

An autopsy has been ordered by the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.

The investigation is ongoing.
