PRINCE ALBERT - The Prince Albert Police Service has executed a number of arrests in a Warrant Round-Up, as part of their Proactive Policing Unit work.
From May 29 to June 29, the Prince Albert Police Service Proactive Policing Unit (PPU) conducted a warrant suppression operation within the City of Prince Albert.
With the assistance of a Criminal Analyst, members attended numerous homes in an effort to locate and apprehend offenders on their outstanding warrants.
Warrants ranged between Criminal Code, Traffic Safety Act, and Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act offences.
Police said in addition to the support provided by the Prince Albert Police Service Crime Reduction Team analyst, the Information Management staff (PRMC) ensured appropriate disclosure was completed following an arrest, and when each person was required to appear before the courts.
The Proactive Policing Unit arrested 49 people and executed 143 warrants during this operation.
Warrants varied, with the most serious offences including Sexual Assault, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Firearm, and Robbery.
The Prince Albert Police Service said it consistently explores crime reduction strategies for known offenders that can positively address the root cause of crime in our area.
They focus their efforts in directing resources to target criminal activities and holding individuals accountable, and advancing the strategic direction of the police service by working to increase public safety.
The Prince Albert Police Service Proactive Policing Unit is made up of a sergeant and three constables, and is responsible for creating and initiating "focused enforcement initiatives to address reoccurring crime trends."
“Our primary focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of our community," Chief of Police Patrick Nogier said in the release. "The recent warrant suppression operation conducted by our Proactive Policing Unit highlights our unwavering commitment to this goal. By targeting and apprehending individuals with outstanding warrants, we are actively working to reduce crime and enhance public safety within the City of Prince Albert. I commend the dedicated efforts of our officers and support staff, whose hard work and determination are crucial in maintaining the safety of our community."
