It may have been one of the coldest days of the year, but that didn't stop the Prairie Women on Snowmobiles (PWOS).
Ten women, including two local women - Jaime Abel-Fleishhacker and Sherisse Sametts - rode their snowmobiles through Humboldt on February 1, as part of their eight-day drive across Saskatchewan to raise awareness and money for breast cancer.
The ride started in Meadow Lake on January 28 and finished on February 4 in Hudson Bay.
City of Humboldt Councillor Gordon Lees welcomed the women to Humboldt on behalf of city council at a luncheon held February at the Bella Vista Inn.
He thanked them for making Humboldt part of their tour across the province, for being an inspiration to others and for raising money for a great cause.
"You should all take a lot of pride in that," said Lees. "Congratulations to you all. May the rest of your ride be a good one."

PWOS could not thank Humboldt and area enough for its continued support.
"Humboldt and area has just been fantastic in supporting PWOS," said Wanda Kiefer, who organized the Humboldt stop on PWOS Mission 2011.
PWOS was started in 2000 by two friends, one a breast cancer survivor, who decided to snowmobile across Saskatchewan to raise funds for breast cancer research and awareness about the disease.
"Since its inception, PWOS have raised $1.4 million," said Sametts.
This year, PWOS raised $226,642.03 for breast cancer.
With all the support the women receive from Humboldt, they hope to continue making Humboldt a stop on their ride in the future.
