Paynton man dies after assault in Lloydminster

Alberta RCMP’s Major Crime Unit are assisting in the investigation of the death of a Paynton, Sask., man.

LLOYDMINSTER - A Paynton man has died from injuries sustained in an assault in Lloydminster.

On Aug. 14, at approximately 3 a.m., Lloydminster RCMP responded to an assault at a park near 44 Street and 42 Avenue, in Lloydminster, Alta. Lloydminster RCMP, Lloydminster Fire Department and AHS ground ambulance attended and located the victim of an assault. The victim was transported via ground ambulance to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Aug, 15, Trevor Owen Tootoosis, of Paynton, Sask., succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital.

According to a release issued Tuesday, Alberta RCMP’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) and Forensic Identification Unit were engaged and are assisting with this investigation.

MCU has taken carriage of this ongoing investigation.
