The City of North Battleford recorded another increase in building permits in October, including yet another big spike in permit values.
According to statistics submitted by building inspector Jerry Wintonyk, a total of 13 permits for $3,188,500 were issued in October, compared to 11 for $1,877,800 for the same month in 2009.
Leading the way was two commercial alteration permits issued for $2,175,000, compared to two for $507,000 in October 2009.
As well, three residential alteration permits were issued for $110,500, compared to one for $2,500 last October. Three sign permits were also issued for $130,000, along with two garage/carport permits for $40,000.
New dwellings were down slightly in October. Three permits were issued for $733,000 compared to four for $884,000 in October 2009.
However, the overall number of new dwelling permits is way up for the year. Through October, 28 new dwelling permits have been issued for $6,940,000 compared to 14 for $3,373,000 a year ago in that category.
Overall, 135 building permits have been issued in 2010 for a permit value of $39,068,800, compared to 137 permits issued for $20,551,450 last year.
The statistics were presented to North Battleford councillors Monday night at their regular municipal services committee meeting.
