North West active cases drop by more than half in last two weeks

The number of people fully vaccinated in the North West has risen by 2,532 in the last two weeks.

NORTH WEST ZONE - Two weeks ago, the North West hit its highest peak in active COVID-19 cases. Case totals have plummeted since then to less than half that number. The last time the North West active cases were this low was the beginning of February.

On Oct. 11, active cases had peaked at 726, up 13 from the day before for the highest total yet since the beginning of the pandemic, surpassing the Jan. 18 peak of 567 by 159 cases.

On Oct. 25, the North West was down to 328 active cases, 37 less than the day before and fewer daily cases reported. Hospitalizations were down from 35 on Oct. 11 to 23 and recoveries up from 6,947 to 7,890.

As of Oct 25, there were 32 active cases in North West zone 1, population 11,073.

There were 184 active cases in North West zone 2, (which includes Lloydminster, which has been the area most affected in recent months) population 30,490.

There were 62 active cases in North West zone 3, population 17,096.

There were 50 active cases in North West zone 4 (the Battlefords), population 23,727.

Total population in the North West zone is 82,386.

The number of people fully vaccinated in the North West has risen by 2,532 in the last two weeks. Oct. 11 saw a fully vaccinated number of 46,306, or 56.2 per cent of the population. As of Oct. 25, fully vaccinated people numbered 48,838, or 59.2 per cent of the population.

Total doses given out number 108,066, including 59,228 first doses.
