NORTH BATTLEFORD - The city of North Battleford will be applying for federal infrastructure funding for a couple of projects.
At their meeting Monday on Zoom, council authorized submission of an application to the Active Transportation Fund grant under the Capital Projects Program through infrastructure Canada.
The application would be to support two projects: one being the Territorial Drive walking path, while the other would be the Pioneer Avenue sidewalk infill projects.
According to a memo from Brett Kitchen, junior planner, these projects would help increase the active transportation network in the city, and improve pedestrian safety.
Both projects were approved in the 2022 budget and are to take place later this year.
Under the Capital Grant Project program, municipal projects designed to encourage active transportation are eligible for a grant of up to 60 per cent of the cost. Kitchen told council it is anticipated they will hear back about whether it is approved later this year.
Council approved authorizing the application unanimously.
