The longtime city clerk at North Battleford City Hall is calling it a career.
The city has bid farewell to Director of Legislative Services Debbie Wohlberg. Monday was her last official meeting, held at the Chapel Gallery as well as virtually on the Zoom platform.
鈥淚t has been a privilege to work for the city over the last 18 years,鈥 said Wohlberg in her goodbye remarks at the meeting.
鈥淚 can truly say I have enjoyed coming to work every day. I鈥檓 going to miss the staff at City Hall 鈥 well, actually, the whole entire city, because we have some terrific and dedicated people who work for the city here and I鈥檓 glad to have been a part of it. I wish the new council the best of luck over the next four years, you have a good team to guide you with your strategic plans and your vision to ensure the city moves forward in the right direction.
鈥淚鈥檓 going to miss working at the city but it鈥檚 time to retire,鈥 said Wohlberg.
City Manager Randy Patrick thanked Wohlberg for 鈥渁 lot of years of service and some very efficiently run meetings during that time ... We鈥檙e going to miss her.鈥
Mayor David Gillan congratulated and thanked Wohlberg for her 18 years of service at City Hall. 鈥淵ou did amazing work for the city,鈥 said Gillan. 鈥淚鈥檓 sure I鈥檓 speaking for everybody in saying you鈥檒l be missed ... good luck in your retirement.鈥
According to the city鈥檚 website, Wohlberg began with the city in March 2003. Duties of the city clerk are prescribed in legislation focusing mainly on council in respect to meetings, agendas, minutes legislation and public notice. Other responsibilities include bylaws, land transfer requests, corporate records management, agreements, tenders/RFPs, central reception and the Historic Archives. The city clerk also acts as the returning officer for general municipal elections.
Wohlberg鈥檚 education includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Saskatchewan and the Local Government Administration certificate from the University of Regina. She has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of rural and urban administration.
Her personal interests include keeping active with golfing and volleyball, doing yard work and growing flowers, as well as volunteering and supporting various organizations and groups in the community. She attends regular blood donor clinics as well as maintains a valid CPR/First Aid Certificate.
