THE BATTLEFORDS — A police presence that had traffic rerouted between North Battleford and Battleford has concluded and restrictions have been lifted. However, RCMP say that as it was not a criminal matter, they will not be providing additional details.
At 1:59 p.m. Monday, Saskatchewan RCMP advised there was an increased police presence on the Highway 4 overpass coming into Battleford and people were asked to avoid the areas where officers were present and to follow any police direction provided.
Traffic was being re-routed in both directions.
The City of North Battleford issued an advisory that the bridge on Hwy 4 south to the town of Battleford was completely shut down for a police matter. The Hwy 16 bypass by Humpty’s was also shut down, said the city.
City Hall issued a Voyent Alert to indicate the closures. The North Battleford Fire Department and Community Safety Officers were assisting, said the city.
