One person was injured following a collision that apparently involved a car and a moose south of Battleford.
The incident happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, about two miles south of Battleford on Highway 4. North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene, as did WPD Ambulance and the RCMP.
According to the fire department, on arrival they found one vehicle situated in the northbound lane, with extensive damage to the passenger area. A moose was found in the ditch, where it expired.
One patient was transported with undetermined injuries to hospital by WPD Ambulance.
Local officials in the past week had been warning drivers to be on the lookout for animals on the roads around the Battlefords, as it is mating season and this is usually a time when more wildlife can be found crossing the roads and highways.
