McMillan nominated again in Lloydminster

Lloydminster MLA Tim McMillan has joined the list of nominated candidates for the 2011 provincial election.

McMillan was nominated at the nomination meeting for the riding, held at the Milleton Community Hall Aug. 5.

The first-term MLA was recently promoted to cabinet rank as minister responsible for the Crown Investments Corporation, Saskatchewan Government Insurance, Information Services Corporation and the Information Technology Office.

In a statement, McMillan said he was running again to make sure Saskatchewan continues to move forward.

"The last three years have really changed Saskatchewan for the better and I'm proud that I've been a part of that change. I look forward to the opportunity to continuing to serve the good people of Lloydminster," he said.

McMillan's nomination brings to 31 the number of candidates nominated by the Saskatchewan Party to run in the 2011 election.

The opposition New Democratic Party has also been busy holding and scheduling nomination meetings around the province. The party recently announced that Sept. 16 has been set as the date for their meeting in the Battlefords, where it is expected that incumbent NDP MLA Len Taylor will be officially nominated.

The Saskatchewan Party nominated Herb Cox to be their candidate in the Battlefords earlier this year.
