Garvin Martin, 44, one of the accused in a string of thefts, appeared in court Oct. 13 via video conferencing from Saskatoon Correctional Centre.
Martin is facing nine charges, including possessing a stolen rifle, breaking into three businesses, namely the Mervin Co-op and a Leoville video store, and stealing a grain truck and pick-up truck.
Martin is being held until a show of cause hearing, which will determine if he can be released with electronic monitoring.
He had previously applied to be released on monitoring, but his cousin, at whose residence Martin planned to stay, decided against having Martin at that residence.
Instead, Martin is looking at potentially staying with his sister, or a friend.
Judge David Kaiser adjourned the hearing to Oct. 19, as Martin did not have legal counsel.
"I think you would be greatly served by having a lawyer," said Kaiser.
Kaiser asked for Martin to be brought to North Battleford in order to fill out the forms to apply for court-appointed representation.
Although the forms can be filled out at the correctional centre, Kaiser said he has had "very little luck in sending forms to jail," as they can be complicated to fill out, and someone will be able to help Martin fill out the forms in North Battleford.
Kaiser also requested an updated bail supervision report be compiled by Oct. 19.
