Man injured when firearm unintentionally discharged in Saskatoon

The man had been holding the gun when it was unintentionally discharged.

SASKATOON - One man was injured after a firearm was unintentionally discharged in Saskatoon.

At around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 7, police were called to an address in the 200 block of Avenue J North for a report of an injured person.

When they arrived, officers found a 22-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and a sawed-off double-barrel shotgun next to him.

After investigating, police determined the man had been holding the gun when it was unintentionally discharged, striking him in the leg.

He was transported to hospital by paramedics with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate.
