Local Legal Aid lawyer named Queen’s Counsel

A long time local lawyer with Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission in North Battleford is among the recipients of the designation Queen’s Counsel in 2020. It was announced Don MacKinnon is one of 15 lawyers getting the “Q.C.” designation.

A long time local lawyer with Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission in North Battleford is among the recipients of the designation Queen’s Counsel in 2020.

It was announced Don MacKinnon is one of 15 lawyers getting the “Q.C.” designation. MacKinnon has been practising law since 1983.

According to a news release, Queen’s Counsel appointments are based on recommendations from a committee of Saskatchewan's Minister of Justice and Attorney General, the Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan or the Chief Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench and past presidents of the Saskatchewan branch of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Saskatchewan. To qualify, individuals must live in Saskatchewan and have practiced law at least 10 years in the superior courts of any province or territory of Canada, the United Kingdom or Ireland.

- Joleen Lesley McCullagh with Novus Law Group in Prince Albert. 

- Richard Terrence Molaro with McKercher LLP in Regina.

- Charmaine DiAnne Panko with Panko Collaborative Law & Mediation in Saskatoon.

- Helen Gertrude Semaganis with Semaganis Worme Lombard in Saskatoon.

- Katrina Marie Swan with the Regina Police Service.

- Curtis Wayne Talbot with Legal Services Division, Saskatchewan Justice.
