Local drivers win local show and shine awards

The Battlefords Vintage Auto Club held their annual show and shine in the Territorial Place Mall parking lot and drivers from the Battlefords and surrounding area showed off their wheels.

A total of 42 vehicles were entered in the vintage, custom and special interest divisions.

Neil Kramer of North Battleford won the Best Restored Vehicle Award with his 1966 Pontiac GTO.

The Best Unrestored Vehicle Award went to Don Mann of the local club for his 1985 Chevy half ton.

The Best Vintage Pre 1960 Award went to Lorne McLaren of North Battleford. McLaren had his 1940 Buick Roadmaster convertible on display.

Another local, Rick Slingerland, won the award for Best Vintage Post 1960 with his 1967 Ford Convertible.

The Special Interest award went to Ernie Howe of North Battleford for his 1930 Lorch Snowplane.

The Best Bike Award went to local Buff McGovern for his 2002 Honda VTX.

Lee Burt of North Battleford was a dual winner as he was voted the winner of the people's choice and manager's choice. Burt had his 1963 Dodge half ton on display Saturday.

The final local winner was Tom Wandler with his 1968 Camaro. Wandler took home the competitors' choice award.

Two entrants from Lloydminster won the other two awards. Glen Brace won the Best Muscle Car Award for his 1969 Camaro and J.J. McColm won the in the best rod/custom category with his 1938 Chevy Sedan and matching Boler trailer.

The Battlefords Vintage Auto Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month with a focus to promote fellowship and encourage those in the club to work together to restore and preserve vintage vehicles.

As usual an event like this is nothing without sponsors and there were nearly a dozen in the Battlefords sponsors trophies and helping to make the event shine.
