La Ronge RCMP investigate fatal collision that left one man dead

BELL'S POINT - La Ronge RCMP are investigating a fatal collision that left one man dead.

On Aug. 24, at approximately 6:45 a.m., La Ronge RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Lagoon Road in Bell’s Point.

Officers responded immediately along with local EMS. A passenger in the vehicle was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 20-year-old man from La Ronge. His family has been notified.

The driver and a second passenger were transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.

As a result of continued investigation, a man was arrested.

Terrance McKay, 24, from La Ronge is charged with: operation while impaired of motor vehicle causing death; dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death; operation while impaired causing bodily harm; and dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm.

McKay appeared in court in La Ronge on Aug. 26.

La Ronge RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
