There is a raft of things to do over Wintertainment week in North Battleford. The events are free, but require pre-registration.
Hosted annually by the City of North Battleford鈥檚 Parks and Recreation Department, Wintertainment aims to provide something for everyone to enjoy winter and the amenities of the city during the school鈥檚 February break. This year, of course, COVID precautions are in place, making pre-registration necessary to manage attendance levels.
鈥淲e look forward to seeing you from a distance,鈥 an announcement on Wintertainment states.
There will be opportunities for creative crafts for ages eight and up, such as learning to hand sew while making animal finger puppets, creating animal suncatchers, animal bookmarks and pop-up art cards.
Family Day is Monday, Feb. 15, at the NationsWEST Fieldhouse.
There will be free public skating at the Don Ross Arena on the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th.
At the Riverview Skating Rink, there will be winter ice games with Lamarr Oksasikewiyin on the 16th.
On the 18th, grab a helmet for the tobaggan hill contest at the Don Ross Hill.
There will also be an outdoor glow skate at the Connaught School rink on the 18th. Glow sticks will be provided.
A chance to learn now animals use snow to survive in the winter will be led by eco-educator Elizabeth Bekolay at Finlayson Island on Feb. 19.
