Customers at Biggar's Main Street Market have to use the back door while the owner replaces the front door. On Monday afternoon a customer - who became irate when she was told she had to wear a facemask - ripped the door off its hinges.

Being forced to wear a face mask inside businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic is a polarizing issue across the province.

Some people are taking it with stride while others are getting downright irate. In fact, one customer at Biggar鈥檚 Main Street Market grocery store became so infuriated when she was told she had to wear a mask that she ripped the front door right off of its hinges.

Biggar Main Street Market owner Shirley Kegler took the incident in stride 鈥 not even threatening to call the RCMP or filing a police report.

鈥淚t just pushed forward the (door鈥檚) replacement,鈥 the good-natured business owner said Monday afternoon in a matter-of-fact manner. 鈥淭hat was about it. It was an old door. It was on its last legs.鈥

Kegler said she didn鈥檛 witness the incident but added that one of her customers saw the 鈥渄oor unhinging.鈥

鈥淪he was mad, swearing and cursing, saying she didn鈥檛 want to wear a mask and ripped off the door.鈥

The door is being replaced this afternoon and until it鈥檚 completed, customers are forced to come and go through the back door.
