Hearing set for man facing weapons, violence charges in 2 provinces

Jason Krysta faces weapons and violence-related charges in Saskatchewan and Alberta

LLOYDMINSTER – A preliminary hearing has been set for a Saskatchewan man facing weapons and violence-related charges in two provinces.

The hearing for 31-year-old Jason Krysta will be held in Red Deer Provincial Court Aug. 18 – 19 to determine if there's enough evidence for him to stand trial on charges of robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to an order, disobeying a court order, and failing to comply with conditions.

Those charges stem from January 2022.

Krysta also has charges out of Saskatchewan from November 2021 when he was arrested in Lloydminster, Sask., and charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault, break and enter to a home with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of threats to cause death, two counts of theft of a cell phone from two separate people with threats to use violence, theft of keys with threat to use violence, mischief by damaging a door, and failing to comply with a release order not to carry or have weapons except work tools while used at a job site, or utensils used while preparing or eating food.

The charges against Krysta haven’t been proven in either court.

He appears next in Lloydminster court June 2.
