WPD Ambulance launched a new service last Friday when a blood pressure and blood glucose test was set up in front of the pharmacy in the Co-op Mall.

Their second clinic will be operating at the location Friday, Oct. 22 from 1to 3 p.m.

"We had good attendance with our first one and are excited to see how this program can develop," says WPD operation supervisor Jason Toovey.

WPD Ambulance Paramedics will be on hand to educate the public about different health issues. They will be doing blood pressure and blood glucose testing on site. These tests will be used as a screening process for possible underlying health problems, such as diabetes and high or low blood pressure.

"If members of the public have known health concerns and would just like their blood sugars or blood pressure monitored, our staff would be willing to assist with that as well," says Toovey.

"The goal of this new exciting initiative is to educate the public about their health and what they can do to live healthier."
