It isn't Christmas yet, but Maidstone's Red Hat Society is already thinking about the season.
The social group has had two successful festivals of trees and is beginning to ask for support for another celebration of the season to be held at the end of November. Last week members of the society dawned their finery and toured the Maidstone Health Complex checking out the items purchased with funds they have raised through the event.
Last year the group raised over $10,000 and over the past two years purchases have included a broda chair, a baby scale, a fireplace, sheepskins, an outdoor bench, Wii games, a bathing stretcher used for bathing and showering patients and residents who are confined to bed and patient transfer belts used to assist with moving patients or residents out of bed. Other items are on wish lists and in the planning stages.
The group is hoping to raise an even greater amount this year to continue to support the Maidstone Health Complex, a facility serving people from throughout the northwest region of the province.
The Maidstone Red Hat Society's Festival of Trees will be on display in the atrium of the Maidstone Health Complex Nov. 22 to 27. There will be trees, wreaths, quilts, and more to view and bid on in a silent auction format. Bids will close Nov. 27 after a day of entertainment. For more information, to make a donation or register an item for the silent auction please contact Gloria Fehr at 306-893-4535.
