NORTH BATTLEFORD - There has been no decision yet on whether one of two co-accused in the 102nd Street apartment fire arson case will be released on electronic monitoring.
Matters for Naomi Jean Yellowtail, who faces a charge of arson with disregard for human life, returned to North Battleford Provincial Court briefly Thursday morning for a scheduled show cause hearing.
But the show cause hearing did not go ahead. Instead, Yellowtail's defence lawyer Andrew Lyster requested and was granted an update to the bail verification report that was ordered at the previous court appearance.
The update would be to canvass a new residence for Yellowtail for electronic monitoring. The case has been adjourned to Jan. 26 at 11:30 a.m., with Yellowtail remanded by consent.
Yellowtail's attendance was waived for this latest court date before Judge Brad Mitchell, with both the Crown and defence lawyers appearing by phone.
Yellowtail is one of two accused in the apartment fire incident of Jan. 3, that saw 17 residents and six first responders treated in hospital.
The other co-accused, Keeanu Crookedneck, faces charges of arson, as well as arson with disregard for human life. Those matters return to provincial court Friday, Jan. 21.
