North Battleford city council looked like Riderville Monday night - again.
A year ago, when the Saskatchewan Roughriders won the CFL Western final to qualify for the Grey Cup game against the Montreal Alouettes, city council showed up wearing Rider green for their regular council meeting.
It was déjà vu all over again this week, as councillors wore the green and white of the Riders for a second year in a row, following the Riders' 20-16 win over the Calgary Stampeders Sunday.
In recognition of that victory, Mayor Ian Hamilton proclaimed Nov. 22-28 to be Rider Pride Week in the city. Hamilton also issued a challenge to other communities to show the same level of Rider Pride.
Afterwards, Hamilton told reporters the proclamation "allows the city to celebrate and be part of the encouragement towards our provincial football team. It's a great accomplishment that they achieved a berth in the Grey Cup game again for the third time in the last four years."
While it was a similar scene at council as last year, the mayor is confident the Grey Cup result on the football field will be far different from last year.
"This year, we will prevail," Hamilton said.
