The case against a Moosomin First Nation man continues to be delayed due to its complexity.
Jonathan Swiftwolfe, 24, has been in custody since multiple RCMP detachments 鈥� including the North Battleford RCMP Gang Task Force - teamed up to locate and arrest him.
Swiftwolfe had another appearance scheduled in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 28, 2021, and the matter was adjourned to Feb. 19 due to the number of charges he is facing and the complexity of the case. The adjournment was at the request of Swiftwolfe鈥檚 legal aid defence lawyer.
Swiftwolfe was wanted since April 2020 for breaching his probation conditions and he was considered armed and dangerous. He was wanted on warrants for charges including seven counts of failure to comply with a probation order, possession of a weapon contrary to a probation order, two counts of flight from police, two counts of assault, two counts of uttering threats, dangerous operation of a vehicle, operating a vehicle while prohibited, mischief, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Both RCMP and the Moosomin First Nation Band had issued a warning to the public saying they were concerned for the safety of Moosomin First Nation residents while Swiftwolfe was at large.
鈥淭he safety and security of Band members on the Moosomin First Nation is the primary concern for Chief and Council,鈥� said Moosomin First Nation Chief Bradley Swiftwolfe in December 2020. 鈥淎 peaceful end to this situation involving Jonathan is hoped for.鈥�
Jonathan Swiftwofe was arrested on Highway 40 near Sweetgrass First Nation on Dec. 6, 2020. When police arrested him they found a loaded firearm in the vehicle that was within his reach.
When RCMP issued the public warning about Swiftwolfe, in describing him they said he has the word 鈥淲estside鈥� tattooed on the right side of his face and neck. Westside Outlaws is a street gang that started in Onion Lake Cree Nation.
Cassandra Fox, 24, was with Swiftwolfe and also arrested. At the time, she was wanted on warrants for assault with a weapon and failure to comply with a release order. She was scheduled to enter a plea and election in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 6, 2021, but failed to appear and a warrant for her arrest was issued.
The charges against Swiftwolfe and Fox haven鈥檛 been proven in court.

Onion Lake Cree Nation is about 50 kilometres north of Lloydminster. Moosomin First Nation is about 22 kilometres north of North Battleford. Sweetgrass First Nation is 35 kilometres west of North Battleford.
