City reminding residents to recycle trees

The City of North Battleford is once again sending out a reminder to area residents to recycle their Christmas trees now that the holiday season is over.

The City of North Battleford is once again sending out a reminder to area residents to recycle their Christmas trees now that the holiday season is over.

The City is recycling the trees into chips again this year, which can be used as mulch in tree and shrub beds.

Those with back lanes can place their trees outside of their back fence for pickup, while those with front-yard collection can place their trees in the streets. Residents are urged not to place Christmas trees in the rollout bins. Residents are asked to have trees ready for pickup prior to Jan. 17, with chipping to begin that day.

The City of North Battleford Waste Management Facility and the City of North Battleford's Greenhouse on 8th Avenue are now accepting drop offs during regular hours.

Residents are urged to remove all ornaments, lights and other accessories before recycling as the materials left in the trees could damage the city equipment.
