MEADOW LAKE – Charges have been dropped against a man charged with forcible confinement in an incident that prompted police to put five schools into lockdown.
Cory Bouvier, 38, was arrested Nov. 8 after RCMP got a call at approximately 1 p.m. that a woman was being held against her will by armed men at a home on the 500 block of 7th Avenue West in Meadow Lake.
The occupants barricaded themselves inside and refused to let police enter. The RCMP then put five nearby schools into hold-and-secure. About three hours later police entered the home and safely removed the woman who wasn’t physically injured.
Bouvier was charged with forcible confinement, obstruction of a peace officer, resisting arrest, and failing to comply with a release order. All of those charges were withdrawn on Feb. 28 in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
He was sentenced, however, in unrelated incidents to time served on other charges. He was given 90 days time served for threats to cause death, 179 days time served for driving while prohibited, and 120 days time served for failing to appear in court.
