People driving past the Capital Theatre may have noticed something is missing, but perhaps weren't able to place their finger on what, exactly, had changed.
The two Allen Sapp canvas prints, which had become as much a part of this city as the water tower lights, were removed in late October.
Marcus Miller, North Battleford's director of galleries, explained the prints were faded by exposure to the elements.
"They were in bad shape," said Miller, adding the supports also needed to be reinforced.
Miller said he had anticipated the switch would take only two or three weeks, but "it turned out to be a much bigger project."
He explained the new canvas prints must be industrially sewn in order to be affixed to the supports on the side of Capital Theatre, and that this will take place in Cochin.
"They should certainly be up by February," said Miller.
The removed prints, "Four people on a sleigh" and an entitled work know as "Getting wood," will be replaced by two different prints, which Miller coyly said are a "big secret."
When the prints are revealed to the public, Miller said the Allen Sapp Gallery will hold a small celebration.
