CARROT RIVER — Paving on Carrot River’s Main Street from south where it intersects with Railway Avenue to the north side where it intersects with 3rd Avenue is expected to take place over the month of August.

“The infrastructure is good, so we’re not going to need to rip everything out and start from scratch, so that means we can just mill down a certain depth and then put new pavement over top,” said Brennan Hall, Carrot River’s administrator.

“Certain sections will probably be blocked off for one day and be able to be reopened a day or two later. That will all depend on what the timeline for the construction company looks like once we get that.”

Sections of sidewalk, curbs and gutters that are in need of being replaced have been marked by their engineer for replacement at the same time.

The town is using Bullee Consulting Limited for the project. Hall estimates the town will be ready to begin searching for tenders later this month for the paving and curbside replacements.

The budgeted cost of the project is $825,000.

“It’s really important because we take a lot of pride in our Main Street and we try to encourage economic and community development, and we want businesses to look good,” Hall said. “Our street right now is not great – it’s part pavement, part gravel, and it’s getting worn and is kind of a hazard in some places.”
