CARROT RIVER — Carrot River’s administrator Brennan Hall has announced his resignation and will be taking a role as Nipawin’s parks and recreation director on a one-year-term during the current director’s maternity leave.
Hall first took the position of administrator in February from Kevin Trew, after first beginning with the town in April 2020, through different roles.
“I gave it a shot and I just didn’t see this as a long-term career for myself, so I figured this wasn’t fair to myself or the town to stay and go through the motions when I can let them know that I already know this isn’t the path I want to go down and there’s another opportunity waiting for me,” Hall said.
Carrot River council accepted his resignation in a special meeting of council held Nov. 29.
Mayor Roman Charko released a statement, thanking Hall for his service to the community and ensured the community that council will continue moving forward without changing their vision for the community.
“We know our town has had a lot of change in the last two years” says Charko, “Change is okay, and it will happen. People come and go in every field of work and that is life. We wish Brennan the best and we look forward to recruiting a new administrator and hiring the best available candidate to help us continue our vision for the Town of Carrot River in 2022 and beyond.”
Hall’s last day of work will be on Dec. 30, with the role in Nipawin beginning in early January.
Applications for the role of administrator are due to the town by Dec. 10 with the goal of there being at least one working week of turnover to adjust the new administrator into the role.
“We’re going to go real aggressive on it and push for a short-term application period and really just recruit aggressively,” Hall said. “If we have to knock on some doors and ask other people we will do just that.”
Hall said as a recreation-minded person he’s looking forward to taking the parks and recreation position.
“I’m very excited that it’s something more specific to my interests but it’s still a management position. It’s more my ballpark of exactly nailing down the interests of mine.”
Hall will remain in his position as general manager for the Carrot River Outback Thunder.
