The Capitol Theatre in downtown North Battleford has announced it is temporarily closing, again.
This was not an easy decision, they stated at their Facebook page. This had been their busiest time since the pandemic started, and they had reported sellouts for the new hit movie 鈥淕odzilla vs. Kong.鈥
But the increased business ended up creating some big issues for the theatre鈥檚 staff in dealing with people who were not following the rules.
鈥淯nfortunately we had some people who 鈥渇orgot their mask鈥, didn鈥檛 follow the social distancing guidelines, didn鈥檛 sanitize when entering, some were eating or drinking at the concession, having to remind some to put their mask on when they leave the theatre, people sitting in the wrong seats etc.,鈥 they stated.
鈥淭his past week we felt disrespected with all those who chose not to follow the guidelines.鈥
The Capitol stated their number one priority was staff and customer safety. 鈥淲e have two staff members with compromised immune systems and with the new variant we need to be proactive in our actions.鈥
The Capitol emphasized the closure is temporary and that they will still be selling popcorn, with popcorn sales happening between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Fridays.
