NORTH BATTLEFORD - A planned bus purchase by Battlefords Transit System has come in over budget.
In correspondence to council received at their meeting Monday, Transit Manager Liana Clinton reported the accepted bid came in $25,000 higher than the approved budget.
The bus was budgeted at $110,000, after Battlefords Transit had been approved for a TAPD (Transit Assistance for People with Disabilities) capital grant of $55,000. But the accepted bid came in at $135,000.
Councillor Greg Lightfoot reported the reason it came in higher than budget was “supply and demand” raising the price, because of the many grants offered from the federal and provincial governments.
He added transit is expected to run at a surplus of $55,000 to #60,000. The plan is to use reserves from the transit account to cover the additional amount.
